EYE Opener - Training Course On Empowerment in Youth Exchanges

Learn how to make great youth exchanges together with a couple of young people (15-18) from your organisation. Let it be their project from the start!

Beschreibung

About the training:

EYE Opener is an international learning experience for teams of young people and youth workers, who want to learn how to make quality youth exchange projects that can get grants from Erasmus+.

During this training you will explore what quality means in a youth exchange. You will also get a chance to develop concrete project ideas with potential partners. Our hope is that you will get everything you need to be able to submit your application for the coming Erasmus+ deadline.

The programme is built on learning-by-doing and includes a simulation exercise, games, info sessions, workshops, reflection and feedback. See attachment for more details.

PLEASE NOTE: This training is for teams of a youth worker + 1-2 young people from the same organisation. You cannot apply as an individual.

The fact that young people take part in the training gives a whole new dynamic to the process. Young people get first-hand knowledge on project building and the cooperation between youth leaders and young people gets better.

Some of the training sessions will be implemented with the whole group, and in some sessions the group will be divided. This way the learning will be adapted to the different needs of the young people and the youth workers. Young people will get first-hand knowledge on how to plan a project, and the teams will learn more about how youth and youth workers can cooperate in a productive way. Both youth workers and young people will be expected to communicate in English.

Objectives of the training

We would like to:

  • present what Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges are
  • provide a group learning experience of how you set up Erasmus+ Youth Exchange projects
  • explore what skills, knowledge and attitudes you need to be able to organise a quality youth exchange
  • give more insight into non-formal learning and young people’s participation in learning
  • look at the role of a group leader in young people’s learning process
  • increase the active participation of young people in the planning of youth exchanges
  • offer the opportunity to meet possible partner groups and to make contacts in other countries
  • promote equal-footed partnerships among young people and organisations

Who can participate?

To participate you need a team with minimum one youth worker/adult leader and one young person coming from the same organisation/group that would like to learn how to organise a youth exchange. You send in only one application on behalf of the team.

  • The ADULT LEADER (over 18 years old) will be responsible for the under-aged person(s) in their team. Is a person who deals directly with the young people and is committed to engaging in the future development of a youth exchange in partnership with the young persons. If justified, 2 adult leaders are possible.
  • The YOUNG PERSON: Between 15-18 years old. Is interested in being involved in planning and organising a future youth exchange. The team can consist of 1 or 2 young persons.

Both youth workers and young people will be expected to communicate in English (eventually with peer support).

Due to the underage participants, this training will be totally alcohol and drug free.
