Ensuring safe and secure environment for European Solidarity Corps Volunteers

Activity open to professionals within the ESC programme willing to collaborate on developing safeguarding policies in order to ensure safety through feedback, expertise, and knowledge exchange.

There are various challenges that European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers can face. Difficult and challenging situations in which hosting organisations need to provide support. Different crises may impact volunteers' security, which is why  SALTO ESC and National Agencies gathered in the Strategic National Agency Cooperation on Volunteering are initiating the development of a document on safeguarding policies.

We need you! To ensure the most relevant and accessible safeguarding policies and approaches, we need all of the best minds and passionate individuals at the table. Bringing both experience and motivation to work toward strengthening the safe and secure environment for ESC volunteers. 

Are you interested in:

  • Contributing to the development of safeguarding policies within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme?
  • Sharing your expertise and collaborating with colleagues on comprehensive guidelines for ESC organisations?
  • Engaging in discussions and knowledge exchange on safeguarding best practices?
  • Testing and reviewing the different tools and resources existing within the topic of safeguarding? 

We invite you to a residential meeting in Latvia (September 22nd-26th, 2024) to contribute to the development and finalisation of high-quality safeguarding policies and guidelines for the ESC programme.

This meeting is organised by SALTO European Solidarity Corps and Latvian National Agency.

Our Objective is to equip organisations within the ESC programme with tools to develop and implement safeguarding policies ensuring a safe and secure environment for all participants.

Your Role during the meeting:

  • To provide feedback on the draft safeguarding policies guidelines.
  • To contribute to the finalisation of the guidelines, ensuring its effectiveness in addressing the needs of organisations and the ESC programme.
  • To collaborate with other practitioners and experts to identify the key safeguarding topics for three online webinars.
  • To share your knowledge and experience with colleagues passionate about safeguarding within the ESC programme.
  • To interact with different tools and best practices related to safeguarding, considering their relevance and potential in European Volunteering.

We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications:

  • Active involvement in the European Solidarity Corps programme (sending and hosting organisations, mentors, NA/SNAC partners).
  • Expertise in safeguarding policies with practical experience.

Limited to 30 participants*. Apply now to contribute to shaping a more robust safeguarding framework for the ESC programme.

*We strive for a diverse group of participants, representing many different organisations and national realities. While quality and relevance are paramount, we may need to limit participants from the same country, organisation or with similar profiles. 

In order to prepare for the meeting, there will be an onboarding meeting held online on June 24th, 18:00-20:00 CET.

The participants will be expected to arrive in Latvia on September 22nd, and September 26th will be the departure day.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The hosting NA of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Please contact your NA in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
